Please join Patsy for what will be a fabulous 6 mile Saturday walk along beaches and through woodland, enjoying stunning views and stopping for a drink/brunch in Weston Super Mare.
Our Nordic walk will begin half way along Sand Bay beach, a large and wonderfully wild beach with impressive views across the Bristol Channel to South Wales. If you’ve never experienced Nordic walking on sand you may be surprised – it’s quite physical!

After about a mile we’ll head into the woods of Worlebury Hill which covers 130 hectares and dominates the northern skyline of Weston. The woodland is a local nature reserve and a paradise for birdwatchers, nature lovers and those like us who enjoy the great outdoors.
We’ll climb for about 300 metres on good tracks to the water tower, then onto an enjoyable flat path which runs through the woodland and past the site of the Iron Age hill fort, Worlebury Camp. Its historical occupants would have had amazing views of the countryside, as well as any potential invaders, as they could see all the way to Sugar Loaf Mountain, the Black Mountains, the Mendip Hills, Dunkery Beacon, Sand Point and Wales (view not quite so good for us now due trees spread over the hill).

Our path then winds to the tip of the headland for a great view of the now derelict Birnbeck Pier, before we descend to a short but steep flight of steps, through Prince Consort Gardens, then along pedestrian walkways and the beach into the centre of W-S-M.
We’ll be on quiet roads as we head to our mid way point, Stones Cafe, for a drink and/or brunch (not included in price). The menu is varied and caters well for food allergies, plus there’s plenty of veggie and vegan options.
Then back to the cars to walk off our food returning via the same route, albeit different paths through the woods.
