Join our private guide to learn more about the beautiful and tranquil Henleaze lake, a real hidden gem in Bristol.
Situated in the heart of the suburbs, only a mile from the Downs and three miles from the city centre, this freshwater oasis is surrounded by lawns, beautiful trees and is a magnet for wildlife. The Lake is approximately 400 metres long and 30-60 metres wide.
This deep limestone quarry was allowed to flood in 1903 after it ceased production and started to be used informally for swimming and ice-skating.
The tour will last 1 hour with time for refreshments at the end and will primarily cover the history of the Lake through the years, as well as learning about the wonderful flora and fauna that inhabits the site.
We’ll walk along the normally restricted boardwalks where we may spot some of the larger fish, see the beautiful white lily beds and meet the resident birds – heron, moorhens or kingfisher.
If you’ve never visited this magical place we highly recommend this tour. You can also enquire about swimming membership and when the waiting list will open.

Eventbrite’s fee is nonrefundable.
