We’re pleased to announce our Bath Nordic Walking Christmas party on Wednesday 9th December ⛄
And if you’d like to work up an appetite beforehand, join Lindsay on a free 90 minute Nordic walk around beautiful south Bath (optional).
The walk begins in the village of Southstoke and descends in a south-westerly direction towards Combe Hay through fields with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. As the slope levels off you enter woods which run past the remaining stonework of the long-gone Somerset coal canal.
Passing under a bridge under the former Camerton branch of the Bristol and North Somerset Railway where Ealing Studios’ ‘Titfield Thunderbolt’ was filmed in the 1950s, you will cross a lane and enter a level path that follows the line of the Cam Brook Eastwards towards Midford through lush meadows surrounded by woodland.
Crossing once more under the former railway and across the line of the former canal, you’ll start a gradual ascent back to Southstoke, initially through a small hamlet past apple orchards with grazing sheep. The walk ends with Christmas dinner at the ever popular, community run, Packhorse pub.
This walk is approx 5.5 km and will take around 90 minutes. There may be uneven terrain and some mud, but the walk is generally easy and accessible.
The Packhorse boasts stunning views over beautiful Bath countryside and we’ve requested the best seats in the house.

Booking requires a £10 non-refundable deposit and you’ll pay the balance to The Packhorse on the day.
