Many of you will know the original founder of BBNW Vicky Welsh who has been quietly organising an exciting new project over the last 18 months – the Let’s Walk Bristol Festival that kicks off in early October.
There will be a huge variety of walks and events to choose from.
We asked Vicky how things are going and what we can expect from the 3 day extravaganza..
“Our Let’s Walk Bristol Festival over the weekend of 2/3 October is shaping up and we’d love you to get involved and help make it a Festival to remember. Our main Festival days are Saturday and Sunday, but we’re expecting other Nordic walking groups from around the country to join us so we’ve a leisurely walk around Bristol harbour on Friday evening, ending with drinks in one of the local Harbourside pubs. It’s free and we’d love to see you.
On Saturday there’s lots of different walks and difficulty levels to choose from all led by experienced guides including some of the Bristol and Bath instructor team. There’ll be Nordic walking friendly walks close to Bristol and Bath as well as in the Mendips, Chew Valley, Cotswolds, Wye Valley and even the magnificent Sugar Loaf Peak. Plus we’ve street art and urban walks, boat tours and even a bushcraft day with national wildlife expert Steve England. Click here
Obviously a festival wouldn’t be a festival without evening entertainment and we hope you’ll join us at one of our Harbourside venues: Underfall Yard and the top floor of Totos wine bar. Both overlook the harbour and we have exclusive use of their indoor and outdoor space. There’ll be food at both, live music at Underfall Yard and local DJ Ben Daley at Totos for those of you who love dancing!
On Sunday we’ll have a marquee and Festival hub set up on the front lawn beside the mansion house. There’ll be a selection of easy-to-follow self-guided walks, a family treasure trail, street food, a photo exhibition and of course Nordic walking taster sessions. Bring family and friends – there’ll be something for everyone.
The Festival is set up to meet all the Covid recommendations, including advance booking and test and trace and if we have to cancel for any reason (including bad weather) you’ll get a full refund.
Tickets are on sale now Click here
