Loved every minute of it
I had my Nordic Walking beginners session today with Ros and loved every minute of it. Having health issues I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to keep up but Ros was very encouraging and reassured me that I could go at my own pace. The class was small enough that we all got really good feedback and instruction. It was great fun and I’ve used muscles I haven’t used for years! Excellent. Lindsay was lovely. Very friendly and professional. I learnt loads, including that my left arm has a mind of its own. Really enjoyed it and looking forward to booking a walk.

Inspiring session
Always wanted to know the difference between normal hiking and Nordic Walking. Such an inspiring session from Ros and I learnt so much. Totally fired up to incorporate this into my fitness regime. Huge thank you Ros.

Relaxed & Friendly
It was a great experience. We were shown the basics in a relaxed & friendly atmosphere and given the opportunity to practise. We are now looking forward to building on what we have learnt and being Nordic pole walkers. Thank you

Absolutely Loved It
Absolutely loved my beginners session with Ros. She was patient,professional,knowledgeable & good fun. I learnt so much & loved how it felt to walk using many more muscle groups than I ever have before! Ros explained everything so thoroughly & the reasons why we do things in a certain way. Enjoyable!
Really enjoyed the lesson and Lindsay’s enthusiasm for NW was almost infectious! A little more to perfecting the technique than I thought. Felt good and ready to do more.
First ever session
Did my first ever Nordic walking session today and am completely hooked. Definitely feel as though a few muscles have woken up and need a bit more attention. Learning the techniques and remembering everything will take a while for it to come naturally so first thing I did leaving the Downs was call in to Ellis Brigham and order some proper boots. A great way to start exercising again
I was annoyingly late due to traffic hold ups and was expecting to have missed the class, but Ros couldn’t have been more accommodating letting me join and catch up. Really friendly class at good beginner pace to go through techniques and it feels like a great way to start exercising again after recovering from an injury. Easy & Relaxed
Nicely eased into and not as though being taught. Easy and relaxed but with a positive outcome. Well worth the money and will be calling back to get further training and group walks.
So glad I took the plunge!
I was really nervous about joining a class, but after 18 months of Covid restrictions and working from home I decided I needed to make changes in life and took the plunge!
I chose Nordic walking due to the full package of benefits it offered.
I cannot thank Ros enough (instructor) for providing a relaxed, step by step class, full of hints, tips and guidance.

Clear & Encouraging
Very clear and encouraging instruction from Ros. I’m hooked after my first walk! I absolutely loved it, and it was very mindful. I noticed after my first walk, my chest and spine has also increased flexibility. I will definitely recommend you give it a try.
Interesting, challenging and fun.
Having led a fairly sedentary life apart from a bit of fair-weather walking and gardening, I thought it was about time I started to increase my fitness and strength. I don’t play sports, don’t fancy going to gyms or swimming pools but I wanted to try something new. I signed up for a Nordic Walking Beginners Workshop, on impulse, and it surprised me. I found that it is not as easy as it looks but, with the encouragement of a skilled Instructor like Ros, I learned the basic techniques within an hour. I became motivated to improve my posture and used upper body muscles that had been neglected for decades! I went home and booked 5 sessions at the special Beginners rate. I am thoroughly enjoying them in the company of the other Nordic Walkers, who are friendly and supportive to an inexperienced newcomer like me. It will take some time for me to become proficient with my poles but the instructors (Rachael and Patsy so far) make each session interesting, challenging and fun. Totally Hooked !
I had always wanted to run but never really enjoyed it. Then I heard about Nordic walking on the radio and thought I would give it a try. So I booked onto a beginners workshop and was hooked. I have been Nordic walking for 5 years now and love it. I signed up for the two walks a week membership option, because I knew if I didn’t, I would find excuses to not fit walks into my hectic schedule. I have been on a lot of really interesting and beautiful walks I would probably never done on my own. I now enjoy being outside more than in, even in the rain! Friendly & Welcoming
I really enjoy Nordic Walking. It is so enjoyable to do an exercise outside and appreciate nature at the same time. I feel we have a general body workout. Also the instructor and other walkers are friendly and welcoming.
A great way to get fit and be sociable
I joined BNW over 3 years ago and it has been brilliant at improving my fitness, posture and core strength. I have made new friends who I have been able to walk with during various lockdowns, which has kept me fit and sane !! They have also organised great trips away in the past, which will hopefully restart in the future

I should really write 2 reviews: one for the sport of Nordic Walking, which is simply awesome and so good for you, and one for Bristol Nordic Walking who put on amazing walks in great places.
