We are very excited to announce this trip to Girona where we will be Nordic walking through the beautiful Spanish countryside led by Cristina and her crew from Nordic Walking Girona.
Girona, the city of the four rivers, has a rich cultural, historic and landscape heritage, and is the setting for many different films and TV programmes such as Game of Thrones. Northern Catalonia’s largest city is a jewellery box of museums, galleries and Gothic churches, strung around a tangle of cobbled lanes and medieval walls. Reflections of Modernista mansions shimmer in the Riu Onyar, which demarcates the historic centre on its right bank from the gleaming commercial centre on the left.
On this stunning three night trip we will discover many of Girona's most beautiful sights such as the volcano of La Crosa, one of the largest volcanoes in the Europa, the river Onyar where we find the largest natural lake in Catalonia, La Draga, a Neolithic settlement in Banyoles which was discovered in 1990 during construction work for the 1992 Olympics, and finally Besalu, a county town with the best preserved medieval historic-artistic complex in Catalonia.
